Nearly miraculous things happen in clean-room laboratories and manufacturing facilities. Silicon wafers become powerful microprocessors. Biological cultures become life-saving medicines. Now, Marco demonstrates a phenomenon that seems completely impossible, using clean-room technology in a box!
A large video screen is seen on stage, and Marco displays a clear plexiglass box in which there is a sterile glove mounted. This is Marco’s miniature clean room. He places his hand into the box, and a camera shows a close-up image of him doing so on the large screen. Marco closes his fist and asks an audience member to choose between “apples” or “oranges.” Say the audience member says “Apples.” Marco opens his fist and reveals he is now holding a real apple. The impossible action is magified on the large screen. Marco opens a door on the side of the box and removes the apple, which he gives to the audience member.
Taking the whole thing one step further, Marco invites an audience member who has a wallet that will hold coins to the stage. He takes the wallet and removes a quarter, has the audience member write their initials on it, then asks them hold the wallet up in front of the large screen. He opens the box and places the quarter into his gloved hand, then seals it all up once again. On the video screen the audience can see him open his hand inside the box, displaying the quarter on his outstretched palm. It begins to shake and animate. Slowly, they see the quarter levitate on the screen, move through mid air, and then place itself into the wallet which the audience member is holding. The quarter is now gone from Marco’s hand, which he removes from the box. He asks the audience member to open up their wallet – and they find the quarter, still bearing their initials. Beyond science, beyond technology – this seems like real magic! |
